On December 17 of 1988, in Cagliari, it was staged Tradition vs Modernity: Open Call, Encounters among Artists, as 4^th act of the Serpent travelling event. It was organized by Antonio Caboni and Tommaso Meloni, on the theme of tradition, modernity, and revitalization of the historical centre. It was staged as outdoor happening  in piazza San Sepolcro, in abandon state at the centre of the city. There, it was performed the departure for Dakar of the little art toy boat. A computer station was placed by Franco Meloni and Francesco Aymerich, displacing the art images that were exchanged in the act 2 of the Serpent event. Antonio Caboni in a ritual performance burned his artwork, carved its burned rest in small parts, signed as new art works, then he gave them away to the public, free of charge, while also Andrea Portas and Daniela Fantini were performing,  As closing action, Tommaso Meloni planted in the sidewalk a small tree. Few days later Andrea Portas restored the little art toy boat’s of Gaetano Brundu.  On its boards, he wrote Liberte de l’Art, and on the other side Ningki-Nangka.  On top of the sail, he placed the logo of Africa Project Against Apartheid by Silvio Betti, next to two black & white shaking hands and a Nelson Mandela's image. Andrea Portas produced also a number zero of a Plexus Art Magazine, promoting the last news from the Plexus voyage.
