In early December of 1987,  the voyage of the Plexus Serpent Art Slaves arrived in the Medina of Dakar, in rue 17 angle 8, at the house of Assane, Kre and Seni MBaye, managed by the two big sisters Awa and Marcel, with Fatoumata, the young Awa’s daughter. There, with Langouste MBow, Kre and Assane MBaye, the Nuraghic ritual re-materialization of the printed Passport for Plexus Serpent was performed by Sandro Dernini. After 14 month of pre-production,  Il Serpente di Pietra (the Serpent of Stone), as the first international art slave market show in contemporary art history, to be held from 1 to 4 July, in Gavoi, Sardinia, within an 8.000 years old megalithic sanctuary site, was presented on 30 June of 1987, at Teatro in Trastevere, in Rome, one of the historical player of the 1978 LIACA cultural slaves market event.  The Plexus Serpent event was organized as a 4 days of art and science, made with a cast of 160 artists from all arts fields, coming there as art slaves from 23 different...

On February 18 of 1987, in New York, at Patrizia Anichini’s Gallery, Sandro Dernini staged the performance Do you think is it possible to eat Andy Warhol if you are eating a Campbell soup? It was enthused by the symposium The Dematerialization of Art, organized the day after at New York University by Angiola Churchill and Jorge Glusberg, co-directors of ICASA (International Center for Advanced Studies in Art), in which Sandro Dernini collaborated as NYU graduate assistant. He conceptualized the performance as an inquiry for the NYU course Phenomenology...

On February 13 of 1987, in Cagliari, at Antonello Dessi’s art studio, Gaetano Brundu, Franco Meloni, Carlo Antonio Borghi, Anna Saba, Randi Hansen, Luigi Mazzarelli, Piernicola Cocco, Luciano Rombi, Enrico Pau and Antonello Dessi staged Bring Your Serpent.  It was made intentionally outside the usual setting of art galleries, to promote the coming there of the Serpent event, boarding the Plexus art slaves’ boat in the follows summer. Bring Your Serpent became the Plexus catchword for launching an open call invitation...

At the end of January of 1987,  in Amsterdam, at Hans Harlos’ Cosaai Production, Willem Brugman presented the opening of a Plexus working station headed for assisting the art slaves’ boat along its journey; and to promote Plexus as an interdisciplinary multi-lateral network recall project for artists and scientists in the first person.

On January of 1987 in New York, Shalom Newman organized at his Fusion Arts space in Stanton Street a happening to promote the printing of the Plexus Purgatorio Art Book, made by one-page size artworks, collected in 1986 at the Plexus Art Opera Eve.
